Know More

ATAL MUSEUM

Atal museum is South Asia's first private museum dedicated to arts & sciences. Displaying a myriad collection of objects and artwork the museum showcases permanent and temporary exhibitions with unique perspectives on arts and sciences. The museum seeks to stimulate creativity and inspire wonder through thematic exhibitions, curated shows from the permanent collection, talks and panel discussions, gallery tours, publications and other creative activities.  The museum was established in 2019 by Chand Kumar Atal Foundation and is located in the heart of the vibrant city of Gurugram in the national capital region of Delhi, India.

“Science can be done artistically and art can also be done scientifically. If both can be combined, it creates more flavor, fragrance and beauty”

-  Dr CK Atal

About
Collection

our

collection

Our collection spans history, science, design, decorative arts and crafts. It is also home to the material heritage and stories of South Asian culture, history and lifestyle, providing a comprehensive insight into this rich and diverse region. There is estimated to be well over 4000 separate items in the Atal Museum collection. The major part of the collections is part of the personal collection of Dr CK Atal and is acquired from different countries, particularly India, South East Asia, as well as Europe, Africa and US.

“It takes money to afford a collection, it takes a lifetime to build a sizeable collection, it takes wisdom and knowledge to build a meaningful collection, but it takes sheer passion to create an inspiring collection”

- Dr CK Atal

Promoting Arts, Science & Culture

Chand Kumar Atal Foundation (CKAF) is a not-for-profit, independent organisation that supports research, practice and education in the arts, science and culture across India.  We believe that the arts, science and culture are essential to our individual and community lives, and for a more equitable and just world. As a facilitator, catalyst and provocateur in the field, we support critical investigations, explorations and experiments that push boundaries of knowledge and practice, and challenge dominant narratives. CKAF through Atal Museum seeks to promote deeper appreciation for arts, sciences and culture.
